US: Brewers to bid for NFL rights

A bidding war is expected to claim the rights to be the “Official Beer” of the National Football League (NFL) in the US.
Two brewers are thought to be in negotiations with the NFL, the current incumbent Coors and rival Anheuser Busch.
The NFL is reported to be looking for a sponsor for when Coors current contract runs out. Coors Brewing signed a US$300m, five-year deal in 2002. But the contract gives the NFL the option to negotiate for a new sponsor after four seasons.
The winning bidder would hold the to use the NFL shield, playoffs and Super Bowl logos in advertising and promotional efforts.
